The role of the library

As librarian roles change from custodian of print to facilitator of online scholarship, they need to take quality into account. Just because a resource is open access does not mean it is a quality resource. 

To better facilitate the scientific process and warn about predatory publishers librarians must be the first to develop skills in what we can call scholarly publishing literacy. Our proficiency can assist scientists in making the right choices were to publish, and in term we should transfer these skills to our patrons so they can start making well informed decisions as well.
