OBaS – Positively wrong?

In this episode we saw Ponter giving advice to Rebecca on how to conduct her research. Ponter expresses a preference for positive results in contrast to null-results.

  • Do you think Ponter is acting with scientific integrity by preferring positive results? How does his preference relate to the four principles from the code of conduct?

More information on bias can be found in the lesson Bias.

Ponter says that all researchers polish their data and he implies that, as a result, polishing your data is not a bad thing.

  • Is this a correct line of reasoning? Who determines what constitutes wrong science?

More information on falsification can be found in the lesson Falsification.
