Introduction

As an answer to scientific misconduct, various institutions have introduced guidelines and codes of conduct. The ALLEA code indeed requires that “research institutions and organizations demonstrate leadership in providing clear policies and procedures on good research practice and the transparent and proper handling of violations” (ALLEA, 2017, p. 5).

However, by now there is an abundance of guidelines and policies.

For instance, the country in which you live in might have a policy on scientific integrity, Europe has one too, your local university might have one and there might also be a field specific policy.
